Overview
Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership:Develops, implements,
and oversees staffing matrices to ensure optimal coverage and
efficient use of resources within The Medical Director for the
Pediatric Hospitalist Team at Randall Children's Hospital is a key
leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical operations
and strategic direction of the pediatric hospitalist program in
collaboration with hospital leadership. The role involves a balance
of clinical leadership, operational management, and programmatic
development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality,
patient-centered care. The Medical Director works closely with
system and hospital leadership, nursing, and support services to
foster effective, team-based care, and is integral in the evolution
of pediatric inpatient care delivery. The Medical Director adheres
to Legacy Health Values in this role. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Graduate of a four-year accredited U.S. Medical School or
equivalent.
- Residency completed in Pediatrics.

- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in pediatric hospital
medicine or a related field.
- Prior leadership experience in a hospitalist program or similar
clinical environment is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of hospital operations, including
staffing, quality improvement processes, and patient care
protocols.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational
skills.
- Ability to foster a collaborative, team-oriented work
environment.Licensure/Certification:
- Board Certified in Pediatrics.
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the appropriate
state(s).
- Active member in good standing of Hospital(s) as
applicable.
- PALS Certification.
- NRP Certification

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- the pediatric hospitalist team.
- Sets clinical standards, policies, and protocols for patient
care, ensuring evidence-based practices are maintained and
regulatory requirements are met.
- Collaborates with nursing, case management, and other support
services leadership to coordinate and streamline patient care
processes and maintain high standards of quality and safety.
- Continuously assesses and optimizes workflow processes,
identifying areas for improvement and implements solutions to
enhance team performance and patient outcomes.Strategic and
Programmatic Development:
- Collaborates with Randall Hospital Leadership to define the
strategic vision for the evolution of the Pediatric Hospitalist
Program, ensuring alignment with broader hospital and system goals
and objectives.
- Leads initiatives to expand and enhance the program, including
introducing new services, technologies, or approaches to care
delivery that improve patient outcomes and increases operational
efficiency.
- Oversees the coordination of pediatric hospitalist services
with other hospital departments to provide comprehensive,
coordinated care for pediatric patients.Team Leadership &
Development:
- Serves as the primary leader for the Pediatric Hospitalist
team, providing coaching and guidance to physicians, nurse
practitioners, and other clinical staff to foster professional
growth and improve performance. Fosters mentorship opportunities
for team physicians and encourages involvement in leadership
opportunities in order to develop leadership skills throughout the
team.
- Ensures the team's professional conduct aligns with the
hospital's standards of excellence, ethics, and patient care
practices.
- Establishes and maintains an environment that promotes
teamwork, facilitates communication, and fosters a collaborative
approach to patient care.
- Leads regular meetings with the hospitalist team to review
patient care issues, quality initiatives, and team
development.
- The Medical Director reports directly to the Senior Medical
Director LMG Specialties, who provides oversight and collaboration
for all responsibilities as outlined. Quality Improvement and
Patient Safety:
- Monitors and assesses clinical outcomes to ensure that high
standards of patient care are met, utilizing data and feedback to
drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives,
ensuring the Pediatric Hospitalist program contributes to overall
hospital-wide patient safety and quality goals.
- Ensures compliance with patient safety protocols and
contributes to the hospital's efforts in achieving accreditation
and recognition for pediatric care.
